Children between the ages of 4 and 12 are able to better express and heal through art and play therapy. Play and art therapy is healing for children with behavioral and emotional issues such as bullying, being bullied, trauma, loss, conflict, divorce, anxiety and depression. I use an attachment based model to act as a safe and secure base for your child.
Teenagers undergo unique societal and academic pressures. Teenagers who are feeling lost, rejected, isolated or confused about who they are might resort to drugs, self-harm or crime. Often teenagers require a safe space outside of the home where they can express and find themselves. I provide this space by allowing the teenager to feel unconditional positive regard while educating them about social media, their peers and healthier options to self-harm. I allow them to find their identity by exploring their emotions and relationship styles with their peers. As this is a time that can be both stressful for the teenager and parent, I encourage positive communication at home.
Your mental health is key to leading a happy and fulfilled life. Talking to a therapist can be helpful because it is in a safe and non-judgmental environment. This type of environment allows you to feel free to express your emotions, desires and stresses without it damaging your self-esteem or relationships with others.
Speaking to a therapist can enable you to understand yourself and others better. A therapist can guide you If you are feeling hopeless, anxious, unsafe, unable to form relationships, unable to sleep or eat, stressed out, heart-broken, stuck or feeling lost.
The family is the most important social support system. As a family you might find yourself in a place of conflict or in a place of loss. Child custody matters can be stressful for both parents and the children. It is key that you do not turn the child against the other parent. Asking the child to be loyal to only one parent places the child in a state of confusion, anxiety and depression. It is time to seek help if your family has communication problems, conflict, anxiety, depression, child custody disputes, loss of a family member or loss of a close other.
